That was certainly a fun way to start the season. The racing was certainly fast and furious. Congratulations to all that took part, it was certainly fun.
We had an internet issue with our live stream, but at least we managed to get to the finish by borrowing Jonathon Bates’ stream. Thank you for that. Apologies to Peter Ridley, John Wheelhouse and Yael Gardner with the vision, as we could not get back to you after recovering. Well done on finishing the race.
The handicapping was worked out with A grade target pace of 42km/hr, B Grade at 40km/hr, C grade at 38km/hr and D Grade at 36km/hr, so right at the top end of their ability, and giving A grade a real chance. All A grade needed to do was leave the B graders behind. However, there were certainly a few auditions for A grade with the winners coming from the B Grade bunch who managed to stay with A grade the whole way.
Alastair Milne took line honours and the fastest time with a powerful solo break from the last rise on Dog Hill Rd with a fantastic ride, which left the 4 chasers to fight it out for the sprint. It was a fast finish with just Luke Column out sprinting John Carter for second, and the overall win. Nicholas Tan came in 4th overall with Jonathon Bates 5th. Adjusted time sees Tan 2nd and Bates 3rd.
Well done to all. Next week – Nth Dandalup Handicap – Virtual. See you then.
