On 2nd June Peel Cycling held a handicap road race from Dwellingup to Pinjarra and return. 37 riders took part in the race which counted towards the Road Rider of the Year competition for club members.
Small groups were sent off at intervals designed to give all riders a fair chance of winning the event, decided on finishing time. The theoretical result of all riders finishing together was not achieved although well over half of the riders were back within 4 minutes of the winning rider, Thomas Breen, who took a close win over Alex Williamson and his father Richard a minute later.
Visiting riders Craig Cooke and Jonathan Beck fought for the fastest rider contest positions at 57 minutes and 28 seconds for the 40km hilly course. Cooke took the title by 0.03 second.
