Members need to be aware that it is getting increasingly more difficult to stage weekly races with increasing traffic, more regulations and lack of volunteers.
We cannot do much about the first two but the club has decided that a volunteer roster will operate to overcome the lack of volunteers. This means members will be expected to participate as a volunteer at least once a year at a club event. This roster will be drawn up by Luke and Amy Banham who have considerable experience with this process from their Triathlon days. They will be posting something on the website regarding this shortly.
However we have an urgent need to train members in being road marshalls as most of our marshalls have certification that is now expiring. One of the regulations require that we have certified marshalls on specific corners. If we do not have them then we are not complying with our road racing permit and unfortunately it means we cannot race.
With the racing season not far away we need members to volunteer to attend a training course to become certified. Our aim is to get external marshalls to do most of the certified tasks but we need backup in the event that they are not available or that the course requires a larger number of these people than we have.
