The final Peel Districts Cycling Club road race of the season was a handicap race from Dwellingup to Pinjarra and return. The third group of riders, contained the 1st and 2nd in the previous Dwellingup handicap, under 15 riders Lachlan Connan and Jordan Dawson, were put into difficultly with their restricted gearing on the rapid descent from Dwellingup and were dropped by the group.
Meanwhile, ahead the second group on the road was breaking up, Michael Claffey in his second race arrived at the ascent in to Dwellingup, alone with a good gap on his pursuers.
Mark Crowther launched an attack at the base of the ascent from the third group to try and bridge to Claffery. Once the climb started to bite, Conor Leahy attacked from the same group and set off in pursuit.
The final part of the climb up Pinjarra Williams Road saw riders from all seven groups dotted along one section of the road. Claffey was not one of them. He maintained his advantage, to take first place. Crowther was second, narrowly holding off Conor Leahy. Stephen Leahy, Conor’s father lost family bragging rights, finishing fourth, narrowly beating young Connan.
