Race Report Parklands 1 February 2015

Parklands is a popular course with a number of riders as the 4 kilometre circuit with a short sharp climb is very different from your usual short flat criterium course.

In the juniors it was Harry Maude out sprinting Cheyann Miller to take victory.

A first lap attack by Baden Gray and Alex Hanlan, saw the small E grade bunch splinter. The pair staying away to the end. With Gray winning the two up sprint, Hanlan second and a long solo chase by Alex Maude was rewarded with third.

D grade was a race of attrition, with riders being dropped almost every lap. Jason Bailey attacked early from the reduce bunch to score the win. Dave Simmons was second and Aron Barclay third.

The pace was on early in C grade and a few riders were dropped early. The early fast pace sapped the energy of a lot of riders and nobody could chase Tyler Lindorff when he attacked with lap and a half to go. Lindorff quickly established a margin and stayed away for the solo win. In the bunch sprint for the minor placings it was Grant Viney second and Matthew Amastassion third.

B grade look far more controlled by comparison. There were attacks, riders off the front and being dropped. The bunch looked in control and a lot less ragged than the earlier grades. In the bunch sprint it was newly promoted Cameron Nobbs first, Conor Leahy second and Andrew Crack third.

A grade was a mix of control and frantic chasing when Wade Longworth, Paul Kirby and Mikey Hosken attacked and got a good break early in the race. However, within a couple of laps the bunch chased them down. The early break did not tire Longworth as he attacked on the final climb and stayed away to claim victory. In the sprint behind it was Rob Ramirez second and Kirby third.
