The Peel District Cycle Club was saddened to hear of the death of Henk Vogels Senior OAM.
Henk was a cyclist of the highest caliber, representing Australia at the 1964 Olympics.
Since his retirement from competitive cycling, Henk spent the next fifty years giving back to the cycling community. Mentor, coach, manager, state and national selector, event organiser, president of Southern Districts Cycling Club and most recently through the Henk Vogels Cycling Foundation which supported the recent Peel Junior Tour. Where Henk was giving encouragement and advice to his passion, the next generation of young cyclists. The Western Australian cycling community has lost a generous soul.
The Peel District Cycle Club extends their heartfelt condolences to Mary, Michael, Leon, Henk Jnr and all of Henk’s grandchildren. He will be missed greatly by many.
