The 2020 Winter calendar has certainly brought it’s challenges to the club. The uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic and our ability to gather and race together has forced the club to rethink our season.
A key benefit for the club of the RGT Cycling Virtual Platform is the ability to “Magic Road” our courses. What this enables us to do is to race our local courses virtually, so it allows the club to set up the season as originally planned. The only change being that if we cannot race outside, we will do it virtually, on the same planned day and time, and on the same planned course.
The first race of the season is now planned to be the 2020 Peel Junior and Women’s tour. If we cannot race at the Motorplex, the tour will be made up of a Crit, flat road race, and a hill climb virtually on RGT over the course of the day.
If we need to race virtually, entry fees will be removed, and the main prize will be bragging rights. There will be a graded points series for our club members as usual. There will be significant onus on the participants to ensure their weights are correct on the app, and the correct gearing is still being used for Juniors.
Our calendar is now live on our website – www.pdcc.asn.au the race links will be updated over the next few days so you can join via the app, and we will post all details to our Facebook page, and to the Stava Club as well. The calendar has been released so you can develop your training plans, and train / race as close to normal as possible.
As soon as we can race outdoors again, we will be. We are planning our normal winter season, and we hope you join us either racing together, or virtually.
Our priority is to race outdoors as soon as we can. We miss you all, and hope you are safe and well, and cannot wait to see you lining up again to pin a number on.
Until then, join us virtually.
