The Hilly Time Trial is the traditional end of the Peel District Cycling Club’s winter road race season. The race starts with a climb out of Serpentine Dam and continues to climb and descend all the way along Kingsbury Drive to the Monastery before turning around and heading back to the dam for the finish and BBQ reward.

Raphael Armouroux flew around the course, breaking the race course by almost a minute. The last rider to start was Oli Stenning who convincing won the Peel Classic on these roads a fortnight earlier. Racing on familiar roads, Stenning was even faster than Armouroux, taking another 30 seconds off the course record, recording 36 minutes and 8 seconds for 25 kilometres and 380 metres of climbing at an average of over 41 kilometres an hour. Jordan Dawson was the third fastest rider on the day.

The time trial is run on age standard, which gives older riders a time bonus to allow them to compete with younger riders. Stenning’s record time secured him the overall win, Armouroux was second and Jarrahdale local Colin Rose’s time bonus allowed him to claim his eighth podium in the last eight Hilly Time Trials.
