While we are in a little transition period between our Winter and Summer season, it is not a quiet time at the club. The committee is busy putting the final touches to the Summer Calendar.
There will be a change to the format of our Criterium races this year. We are continuing to find the right balance for everyone. This year, on every race day there will be a coached training session starting at 7.15am. This will be for 45 minutes and will be based around all those skills that everyone needs, (conering, braking, bunch skills, control). The groups will be separated to Juniors and Seniors, and will be perfect for anyone who wants to improve their skills. This skills session is free, and you will not require a race license.
To make room for this initiative, the club will be running mixed graded racing from A through to E grade. We will have a separate competition for the Women in each grade and award podium places and points for the member competition accordingly. The Development grades E and D will be run on the course at the same time starting at 800 and 805. This will allow for the C, B, and A graders to be on the course by themselves. By doing this, we will increase safety, and allow for bigger bunches. We again are expecting a lot of interest, so fields will be capped at 45 starters in each grade (20 in D and E)
Of course, don’t forget our Little Critters will be running around at 845 for their lap(s). Full timing of the day’s can be found on our website here – https://pdcc.asn.au/events/summer-crits-20-21-1/
The other initiative the club is working hard to bring back is the Mid Week Summer TT series. We have identified a new course, and are just working through approvals etc. They will be held on a Wednesday evening as per previously, but only twice per month. The new course will allow us to not only run the TT’s, but also a Junior Development session. We will release details about this when it is all approved.
Looking forward to seeing everyone at the Windup and AGM being held this Sunday at Peel Estate Winery from 12pm.
