Club Awards, Race Points and Race Grading

The Committee has resolved at the Committee meeting held on 10/02/2015 and 11/03/2015 that the Club Award Prizes will be changed to simplify and to make the prizes more meaningful for the higher place getters. The prizes have been reduced in number by about 25% but the total amount of money paid will be very similar to that paid out in the past. The prizes to be paid from now on are generally consistent between the three types of races with the prizes for the Criteriums and Road Races identical. The three Time Trials Series prizes are half that of the Criteriums and Road Races in view of the series being shorter.

The prizes for winners of individual races (eg: Presidents Cup) are identical. Prizes are only awarded for the first three places.

The points system has also been amended in Handicap races in line with the Criterium and Road Races with the exception that the points are consecutive from 12 for 1st down to 2 for a finish and the 1st three fastest riders are also awarded additional points i.e. 3 for 1st, 2 for 2nd and 1 for 3rd.

Race Grading will also be more rigorously policed to ensure that once a rider is deemed to be racing in a grade above or below their abilities they will be regraded. This particularly applies to new riders.

The full details of the above is available on the web site under the ”Racing” heading.
